Karen
Stocks is an assistant research scientist at the San Diego Supercomputer Center.
Her interests cover biodiversity informatics, marine biogeography, and seamount
ecology. At present her primary project is developing SeamountsOnline (seamounts.sdsc.edu), but she also works on development of
the Ocean Biogeographic Information System (www.iobis.org), a global, distributed database
for marine species distributions. For more information about her work, please
